When disaster strikes, it can wipe out all evidence that you exist. If you survive, you'll still having a hard time proving it without copies of these:
Insurance policies, will, contracts, deeds, stocks and bonds
Inventory of valuable household goods, important telephone numbers
Savings and checking account numbers
Passports, social security cards, immunization records
Credit card account numbers and companies
Family records (birth, marriage, death certificates)
