A great place to swim in Lake Washington, Matthews Beach as been a regular for north enders for 40 years.

Remarks: The city first purchased 10 acres of Matthews Beach in 1951. It is Seattle's largest freshwater bathing beach. The park is named after John G Matthews, a pioneer who homesteaded on the site. For people bicycling on the Burke Gilman trail, it is an ideal stopping place. (From Seattle parks and recreation)
