This is a neighborhood park on Lake Washington that slopes down to a nice 400-foot swimming beach.

Remarks:John J McGilvra created Madison Park in the 1880's. He and his wife built a boathouse, floating bandstands, beer and gambling halls, piers, a promenade, a paddlewheel steamer, baseball and football fields, and a greenhouse full of exotic plants. It was the most popular park in the city until McGilvras death in 1903. The plants were transferred to Volunteer Park and the paddlewheel steamers were replaced by a ferry system.
