New to the zoo this year is an African Village exhibit, designed to transport visitors to the landscape of an African savanna. The village celebrates African culture and the region's wildlife through the eyes of those who live there. Visitors will encounter a boma (traditional fence enclosure), a teacher's house, a traditional Kikuyu house, a banda hut (community pavilion) and grain storages. From the Nyika Primary School is a view of the zoo's African Savanna section, where giraffe, zebra, gazelle and patas monkeys can be seen.
