Seattle Center is perhaps best known locally for its notorious collection of festivals and expos. Annual events include The Folklife Festival, a three-day weekend of world music, arts and culture; Bumbershoot (British for umbrella), a giant, 30-year-old music festival that attracts both the biggest names and small acts from near and far; and the Bite of Seattle, a weekend celebration of all things culinary. Seattle Center hosts more than 1500 events every year and is also the home of "official" city festivals like the New Year's Eve celebrations.
