Wenberg state park
Location
Wenberg State Park is located in Snohomish County, approximately 12 miles north of Marysville and 10 miles south of Stanwood. The main access is from Interstate 5 (Exit 206), 7 miles west on well-signed State Highway 531. Smokey Point Marker located on I-5 reststop, 7 miles east of park.
Acreage
45.86 acres, with 1,140 feet of freshwater shoreline on Lake Goodwin.
Acquired
Wenberg State Park was acquired in five parcels; the first in 1947 and the last in 1979, for a total cost of $13,679.
Historical Background
Originally a Snohomish County park of 20.75 acres, the state received the property in 1947 on a quitclaim deed. Later, 9.9 acres were acquired from the Wenberg Public Park Association for $3,754, .05 acres from Roy and Bertha Turk in 1960 for $6,000, and an additional 14.65 acres from Robert and Hattie Fair for $3,400. It is reported that a man named Wenberg, a former state legislator, owned the land that became the original county park. The lake is renowned for cutthroat and rainbow trout fishing. Also caught are smallmouth bass and perch up to 18 inches in length.
Facilities
The park has 2 residences, shop building, gas shed, 1 Camp Host campsite, 65 standard campsites, 10 trailer hook up sites (water and electricity only), 2 camp area comfort stations, bathhouse, trailer dump station, large and small picnic shelters, 80 tables and 25 stoves in the day use area, 465 feet of guarded swim beach, 2 creative playground units, concession stand open during summer months, a 2-lane concrete boat launch ramp, two 12' x 20' swim/water ski floats, 2.5 miles of blacktop road, and one-half mile of foot trail. The beach and day use area were partially renovated in 1984.

Camping, picnicking, play area, swimming, boating, water skiing, freshwater fishing, hiking and windsurfing/sailing.
