Loomis Lake State Park

Location

Four miles south of the town of Ocean Park, on the Long Beach Peninsula.

Acreage

13.5 acres with 425 feet of saltwater frontage on the Pacific Ocean.

Acquired

Loomis Lake State Park - Ocean Beach Access area was acquired in 1971, for a total cost of $85,000, from the Professional Investors Company.

Historical Background

The park was named for the area which derives its name from Lewis Loomis. Mr. Loomis was a shipping magnate who built a grand mansion in the area in the late 19th century.

Facilities

24 picnic sites, 10 windscreens, comfort station, parking for 67 cars, and trail to beach.

Activities

Picnicking, surf fishing, driftwood collecting, clamming, beachcombing, and hiking.
