Lake Sylvia State Park
Location
One mile north of Montesano, Grays Harbor County.

233 acres with approximately 15,000 feet of freshwater shoreline.
Acquired
Lake Sylvia State Park was donated to the Commission in 1936 by the City of Montesano. Consolidation of park lands was enhanced by a trade in 1985.
Historical Background
Lake Sylvia was formed by damming Sylvia Creek for the purpose of log ponding and power production. The power was originally used to operate a lumber mill that was located downstream from the dam. This mill began production on July 7, 1871, and was the first of its kind in Grays Harbor County. The mill ceased operations in 1930. For awhile, the electricity was used by the City of Montesano.
Facilities
118 picnic sites, beach kitchen, group camp, 2 cooking shelters, parking for 136 vehicles, 270 feet of developed swimming beach, 1 swimming float, 5 miles of trail, 1 comfort station/bathhouse, 2 comfort stations, residence, shop building, 35 nonhookup sites, 2 primitive sites, and a group camping area with capacity of 120. The Commission has a concession agreement with Patricia Caudill for the sale of food and groceries and rental of boats. The agreement expires December 31, 1996.

Picnicking, swimming, boating, hiking, camping, fishing, and children's Big Toy play equipment.
