Location:
Seven miles northwest of Hoodsport, Mason County, Lake Cushman Road.

Acreage:
602.9 acres with 41,500 feet of freshwater shoreline on Lake Cushman.
Acquired
Acquired in two parcels in 1959 & 1965 via a 50-year use permit, from the City of Tacoma. In December 1976, the Commission authorized a land exchange with the City of Tacoma for the Dry Creek and Deer Meadows sites in exchange for lands at Bear Creek. The action also requests the development of facilities, by the City, at Dry Creek and Deer Meadows as part of the City's Exhibit "R" requirements.
Historical Background
The first development on the lake was the Rose Farm and later the Antlers Hotel, constructed in 1895. In 1920, the City of Tacoma was granted a lease to construct a dam for the purpose of generating power. The dam was completed in 1926.
The lake was named in honor of Orington Cushman, interpreter with Governor Issac Stevens when Indian treaties were being made.

40 picnic sites, picnic shelter, parking for 106 vehicles, 3 boat-launch ramps; 3 comfort stations; 50 tent sites, 30 trailer sites, 2 primitive sites, group camping area plus shelter with capacity of 60; 2 residences, shop, registration booth, park aide quarters, equipment shed.
