The park is approximately 3 miles northwest of Oak Harbor, on the west side of Whidbey Island, in Island County.

Acreage

112 acres with 3,100 feet of saltwater shoreline on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Acquired

Originally part of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, the park was acquired from the Federal Government in two parcels; the first in 1974 and the last in 1975, at no cost.

Historical Background

The park, as well as the island and other features, takes its name from the Vancouver expedition of 1792. Master Joseph Whidbey circumnavigated the island and Vancouver named it in his honor.

Facilities

The park was developed and opened for limited public use in 1982.

Activities

Facilities include 2 vault toilets, picnic shelter, 20 picnic sites, parking for 30 vehicles, hiking, and beachcombing. Cascadia Marine Trail campsite.
