Griffiths-Priday Beach State Park
Location
The Washington Coast of the Pacific Ocean in Grays Harbor County, 21 miles from Hoquiam on State Route 109, just west of Copalis Beach on the Benner Gap Road; approximately six miles north to Ocean City State Park.

This park contains 364.18 acres with 8,316 feet of saltwater shoreline on the Pacific Ocean and 9,950 feet of freshwater on the Copalis River.
Acquired
The park was acquired in 6 parcels; the first in 1952 and the last in 1995, for a total cost of $943,850.00.
Historical Background
Judge Griffiths originally purchased 60 acres in 1893 and loved the beauty of the area so much he purchased another 57 acres. In his will, he wanted to leave the land to the public for everyone's enjoyment with the stipulation it be named Griffiths-Priday Ocean State Park, a combination of his surname and that of his foster parents who brought him from England as a child. The entire acreage runs from the beach through the dunes to the Copalis River and to the north to the mouth of the river.
Facilities
A residence, shop/garage, restroom, pumphouse, shelter with 4 picnic tables, 2 windscreens with 3 tables each, 3 pedestal grills, 10 picnic sites, a play field, 37-car parking lot and 3 RV parking spaces. There is also a board walk through the dunes to the beach. The area can be reserved by a maximum of 200 people.
Activities
Fishing, horseback riding, kite flying, canoeing, hiking, beachcombing, razor clamming, and bird watching.
Of Special Interest
This park contains the Copalis Spit Natural Area.
