Nine miles north of Bridgeport State Park, overlooking Lake Pateros, on State Route 17, Okanogan County.

Fort Okanogan State Park was acquired in two parcels in 1959, for a total cost of $4,485.
Historical Background
Fort Okanogan, established in 1811 by David Stuart for the Astor Fur Company, was the first settlement in what is now the State of Washington. It subsequently was purchased by the Hudson Bay Company in 1821. The Interpretive Center overlooks the site of the original fort. The word is a derivative of the word the local Indians had for themselves, "Okinakane".

Interpretive Center with comfort station, picnic shelter, 3 picnic sites, parking for 28 vehicles, 1.1 miles of surfaced road, pumphouse.
