Historical
In January 1981, the Chelan County PUD purchased the present park site from Mr. Grady Auvil, a long time area orchardist. Mr. Auvil had developed a small portion of this site and named it Daroga Park.
The origin of the name Daroga was the result of an idea of Pete Van Well Sr., a local nurseryman. Mr. Auvil had developed a new variety of peach and had given it to Mr. Van Well as a gift. The new variety was subsequently cataloged as the "Daroga Peach". Daroga utilizes two letters in the first names of the three Auvil brothers (Dave, Robert, and Grady) who started the ranch at this park site in 1928.
