Crystal Falls state park

Location

In Stevens County, 15 miles east of Colville on State Highway 20.

Acreage

156 acres including the scenic Crystal Falls portion of the Little Pend Oreille River.

Acquired

Acquired September 1, 1987, from Thomas S. and Claire Motheral.

Historical Background

Area homesteaded by Motheral family in 1904. Crystal Falls

named by Corrine Motheral. Land was donated by family for school house in 1907. The building also served as a community center. The log school house was replaced with a frame structure in 1921.

Facilities

Initial development trails, one house-school building used as a residence. Foot bridge over river.

Activities

Hiking, view of falls and river.
