Overview:
If you're looking for an escape from work or just a place to stretch those legs on the weekend, head over to the Mercer Slough Nature Park. Although the gleaming tops of Bellevue buildings are visible off in the distance, visitors can still successfully immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of nature.

During the winter months you may not see many scampering woodland creatures, but birdwatchers were certainly get some thrills. Representatives of over 100 species flit and fly through the trees above, so it might be a good idea to bring a pair of binoculars along.

There are over five miles of trails snaking through the wetlands, as well as waterways for canoeing. It's quite possible during this time of year that you may be the park's only visitor. For those who appreciate quiet walks and crisp air, Mercer Slough is a rewarding destination.

Winters House offers maps and more information about the park. Guided canoe tours and nature walks are offered later in the year. Call for more information.
